Very good food, very good price. This surprised me. I've lived very close by for about 10 years, like Chinese food but had only been in the place once before about 8 years ago when the place looked like an abandoned building. It still looks exactly the same on the outside...abandoned building. Same weeds growing out front and in the parking lot, same can't hardly see in though the windows. But over the past few months there were some signs of life. An "Open" paper sign appeared on the door. Then an a small "OPEN" electronic sign. Then a few weeks later a larger "OPEN" electronic sign. 8 years ago I couldn't get seated, or noticed so I left. I walk by the place everyday at different times. Never saw any cars in the huge parking lot. I assumed it was a front for money laundering. How else does a place stay open for years without hardly any customers?

Last year a Mexican restaurant appeared at the location...still with the "Diamonds Chinese Food Restaurant" sign (along with a "Kung's Chinese Food" sign for good measure) but with some handwritten Mexican food signs that blew away pretty fast. That deal lasted a couple weeks.

Then a few months ago these "OPEN" signs started to appear. The banner flags from the Mexican "grand opening" are sill flapping in the breeze in that tattered dirty sun baked state that screams "we're not really open" way. Across the street is "Melrose Gas" $1.30 a gal...hasn't been actually open in 10 years or more.

Today I decided to open the front door and go inside. I was actually a little afraid. I was positive the food was going to be terrible. I like trying scary places, but this one had my butt puckered a bit.

The waitress did say "Hi" when I walked in. For Phoenix that's pretty good service. Ignoring customers here is a local custom. Inside is new looking. It's not spotless, but not scary. Paper menu, a lot of selection. Meals in the $7-10 range. Ambience is take-out place. My rating is based on that of take-out. This is not a place to impress a date.

I got the large B.B.Q. Pork with vegetables. With a 20 bottle of soda the total was $10.69.

Mid afternoon I was the only one there, food arrived in 5 minutes, maybe less. Clearly just cooked which shocked me. The vegetables were not over cooked, cabbage, broccoli and snow peas all still had a bit of a crunch. Impressively the snow peas had been trimmed on the ends the sometimes stringy edge removed. Most cooks don't take the time to do this. Because they still had a bit of crunch I'm sure they were fresh. I could still taste each vegetable. Brown sauce was not greasy imo.

The steamed rice was pretty close to perfect. Cooked enough to clump a bit so chopsticks could be used, but not a brick. The portion of rice was small...but shortly the waitress asked if I wanted more rice...nicely done.

The current deal is these are new owners and they run the place. One cook, one waitress. So if it ever did get busy that could be an issue.

It isn't unusual on the Melrose curve for owner operated businesses to be opened on almost no budget. "Hey, it already has a sign! Cool, that'll save a few bucks." No need to spend $10 on a "Now Open Under New Owners" sign. Instead let's just hope people wander in. Most last a few weeks, couple months. Common for them to make good food and have no idea about marketing. "What's wrong with weeds growing outside?" is a side of Phoenix.

NOTE: Many of the reviews here are for someplace in Las Vegas or for some previous owner.

This is actually now my favorite Chinese food place in Phoenix. That's a pretty low bar to be sure, but the food today would have been good even in a nice building with linen table cloths.

I ordered delivery from Kungs diamond last night! Shrimp with lobster white sauce was delicious just left me wanting more it was so good! Also ordered sweet and sour pork it was yummy as well the only thing that was disappointing was the Pupu platter was ok just not as good as the main dishes! They delivered quickly and everything was nice and hot! Definitely keeping this number close will be ordering again!

I'm very happy this place opened again as a Chinese place. The food is as great as it was in the past.
The service is great and overall a phenomenal value .

Love this place! We were recommended by our neighbors and it is everything they said. Food is great. We've been twice now and both times were a great experience. I get extra spicy orange chicken combo, my partner gets house chicken. They are both just perfectly crispy and a good amount of meat in each piece, not just fried breading. Also, the chow menu and fried rice are both pretty good, the spring roll is really good and all of it at a decent price for how much you're getting.
Overall, highly recommend for your typical Chinese takeout type meal!

Got delivery. The food was okay. The egg rolls are actually spring rolls. The chicken and broccoli was good and so were the crab puffs. The lo mein and wonton soup are a bit bland. I will probably give it another shot bc they are close by and the prices are good.
